Reduce the early signs of aging with professional chemical peels in Chicago IL

Professional chemical peels are among the most effective methods of reducing the signs of aging and rejuvenating the skin. The epidermis (the outer portion of the skin) consists of layers of cells that protect delicate deeper tissues from dehydration and environmental factors. As the skin naturally exfoliates, these cells are shed invisibly over time. Dr. Jonith Breadon can provide professional chemical peels to hasten this process and reveal fresh new skin to restore a more youthful appearance for many patients.

Why chemical peels?

Chemical peels are one of the least invasive means of rejuvenating the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs. They can improve fine wrinkles, a dull complexion, freckles, red, scaly, rough, or oily skin, discoloration, and minor scars for a refreshed look, a healthy glow, a brighter complexion, and smoother skin.

The lunchtime peel

At Aesthetic Dermatology and Laser Surgery, Dr. Jonith Breadon offers a number of different peels to meet the needs of her patients, but the superficial peel, also called lunchtime peel, remains extremely popular. These peels use a diluted mild acid, usually glycolic acid. Patients love that they can have this treatment done during their lunch hour, and they can return to work immediately after the treatment. This is the gentlest, most comfortable peel, and it can even be used for patients as young as 25. A series of three to five treatments is usually recommended to achieve optimal results. The treatments are performed in our comfortable office, usually in less than an hour.

What to expect

The skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove oils and any contaminants, and the eyes and hair are protected. The solution is applied with a sterile applicator, and left on the skin for a predetermined length of time. The patient might feel a slight stinging sensation while the chemicals are on the skin. The solution is then neutralized. The skin may be slightly red, dry, and irritated for a few days. These effects usually diminish with each subsequent treatment. The patient is given instructions for post-procedure care, which will include avoiding sun exposure.

Keep that youthful look

The fresher, smoother texture can be maintained with a good skin care regimen, the use of the right sunscreen, and periodic retreatments. Dr. Jonith Breadon and the friendly staff at Aesthetic Dermatology and Laser Surgery offer guidance on skin care to meet each patient’s unique needs. They love helping Chicago IL look younger.
