Treatment for leg veins in Chicago
Varicose veins are a constant source of concern for many patients at Dr. Jonith Breadon’s Aesthetic Dermatology and Laser Surgery office. Identified by veins that are visible in your legs, varicose veins can cause patients to feel self-conscious, uncomfortable, or can even be painful. However, now patients don’t have to live with varicose veins. Dr. Breadon and her team can help patients eliminate the veins and restore their self-confidence.
If you’re considering varicose vein treatment, call Dr. Breadon to schedule a consultation. Many patients are opting for sclerotherapy, a procedure in which a sclerosing solution is injected into the vein. Dr. Breadon will talk with patients to determine if they are good candidates for the procedure. Some things that could affect your ability to receive the procedure are pregnancy or a history of blood clots.

During your session, you may experience mild cramping for a moment or two. The length of your treatment session will vary, based on how many veins are being treated. Immediately following the therapy, you’ll be directed to avoid aerobic activities for several days. Other side effects you may feel following the sclerotherapy appointment include itching and red areas or bruising at the site of the injection. Patients will need to wear compression stocking for a week following the procedure.
Many patients ask if the procedure is safe. The short answer is yes, the treatment is safe, because the veins being treated are not functioning. It’s important to note that results are not immediate. Instead, the veins will begin to fade over the course of several weeks. Most patients achieve their desired results in only one session; however, some patients do require follow up appointments. Once the vein disappears, it will not return. Others may show in a similar location, but they can also be treated with sclerotherapy.
If you’re ready to stop seeing varicose veins in your legs, call Dr. Breadon today to schedule a consultation or to learn more.
