What are the benefits of injectable wrinkle correctors for Chicago, IL area patients?
Updated: Feb 26, 2019
When we see patients interested in learning about non-invasive solutions to lines and wrinkles, we often recommend injectable wrinkle correctors. Solutions such as neuromodulators and dermal fillers are excellent at addressing mild to moderate signs of aging.
When deciding which injectable wrinkle corrector is right for you, it’s important for us to evaluate your areas of concern along with your desired goals. For patients who are interested in correcting folds and wrinkles that have developed due to muscle contraction, we often recommend the neuromodulator, Xeomin.
How does Xeomin work?
Every time you smile, laugh and frown, muscles contract in the face. Over time, these repeated muscle contractions can cause dynamic wrinkles. The most common ones are crow’s feet, forehead folds, and glabellar lines.
Neuromodulators like Xeomin temporarily block the nerve signals that cause these muscle contractions. This process smooths out the skin and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Benefits of Xeomin
One of the biggest advantages of Xeomin is fast results. Most patients notice the effects within 1-4 days, which is slightly faster than alternatives. Another advantage of a wrinkle corrector like Xeomin is that patients notice a slight lift in the appearance of the eyebrow, which gives them a more rested and relaxed appearance.
The Xeomin procedure
The procedure is done in-office, usually in less than 30 minutes. If desired, a topical anesthetic can be used prior to treatment.
Results from Xeomin generally last for two to three months. Patients should expect to repeat the procedure approximately every three to five months to maintain results long term.
Ideal candidates for Xeomin are men and who are concerned with wrinkles or creases around the eyes, the forehead, or between the eyebrows.
